Homemade Pizza Dough

Ingredients for Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose or bread flour

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

  • 1 ½ teaspoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder + Italian seasoning (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ¾ cup warm water


Pizza Toppings

  • Pizza sauce

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (can substitute vegan cheese)

  • Sliced heirloom tomato

  • Thinly sliced prosciutto (optional)

  • Arugula

  • Balsamic glaze


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, seasonings (if using), olive oil, and warm water. Stir well with a wooden spoon until combined.

  2. Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour and use your hands to knead the mixture into a uniform ball of dough.

  3. Transfer the dough to a separate bowl lightly sprayed with olive oil. Roll the dough ball around to coat it in oil, then cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.

  4. After the dough has risen, roll out thinly on a baking pan (or, wrap in plastic wrap and store in fridge until ready to use). Top with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, tomato slices, and prosciutto.

  5. Bake at 425°F for 16 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven, and top with fresh arugula and a drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving.
